TRAINING
STRIKING
Our emphasis is on self defence, so the idea is to finish the confrontation fast and then get moving. Striking is the best way to achieve that. We spend a lot of time working on a solid core of blocks, counters, punches, kicks, elbow strikes and knees.
GRAPPLING
We don't wrestle and we try not to go to the ground, but sometimes you need techniques to hold or subdue without striking, and you need to know how to get off the ground if the opponent takes you there. Our grappling focuses on simple locks, escapes and takedowns.
MULTIPLE ASSAILANTS
Everyone's got mates, right? Even bad guys. So let's assume he's not alone. Footwork, positioning, tactics and commitment are the key to surviving a multiple assailant situation and we work on those in most classes.
DEFENCE AGAINST WEAPONS
And what if he's armed? We work extensively learning to defend ourselves from assailants armed with street weapons — single-hand sticks, double-hand sticks, knives, machetes, chains and (sometimes) guns.
